gotta say it

I was not an Obama backer until he took the primaries because I was concerned that his lack of experience would make him timid and unwilling to jump into the deep end of the Washington, D.C. shark pond to enact the platform on which he ran if he was elected. I'm sad to say that at this point, it really looks like my fears were accurate in a lot of ways. It's a coin toss as to whether any meaningful health care legislation will pass and the media narrative run by the right-wing quislings is starting to parallel the Clinton years more and more every day. The problem is, the guy that campaigned for the presidency was Martin Luther Obama, but the guy that lives in the White House seems to have become Barry Urkel.

Mr. President, I've got your back, but you have to have ours. With the passing of the man who may have just made the difference that got you elected, you have a debt to pay.

It's time to go for the gold. It's why this country gave you a chance. We need Barack Fitzgerald Francis Moore Obama, and we need him now.

Has anybody here seen my old friend....

I feared this was why he had not been out stumping for health care/insurance reform--it was the only thing I could imagine that could keep him from being visible the last few weeks.

Let's all take up his burden and march on together.

May he rest in peace, may his family be consoled, may his brothers and sisters welcome him with open arms, may we all find greater meaning in life for his having fought for us.

[heavy sigh]

and then there were none

RIP Senator Ted Kennedy. May this country have the sense to grant you the legacy for which you worked so hard.

deja voted

Senator John McCain has been on the television all afternoon at his health care "town hall" meeting in Arizona, explaining how he wants to handle health care reform and how he has a fundamental difference of ideas over how to run the country.

Somebody needs to tell both McCain and MSNBC that the presidential campaign is over.

Dear MSNBC,

While watching the early morning news, I noticed a pretty serious typo on one of your show titles. The text on the screen said "Way Too Early with Willie Geist."

That should be "for," shouldn't it?

You're welcome,
Milo

revenge never dies

It's most illuminating to see the furor that the compassionate release of a man who did a horrible thing, spent twenty years in prison for it, and is going to die an excruciating death in less than a hundred days has created.

The very people who proclaim the superiority of our "christian" nation's morality are screeching like ex-wives over a simple gesture of humanity, a gesture that actually demonstrates the morality that so many of them preach to others but never practice in their own lives.

Yet somehow this simple display of mercy has been turned into "a victory for Khadafi," an exchange for oil, and a travesty of justice.

Well, here's some news for you. Justice is supposed to be dispassionate and is not all about retribution. We should abhor the crime, not the criminal. This man is going home to die in private agony, not to celebrate putting one over on the western world. The past is the past, let it die too. The only country in the world that has had nuclear weapons used against it is now one of our nation's most steadfast political and commercial allies. We defeated them in war and won them over by showing them the nobility and compassion of the American dream, a method that has worked time and time again throughout history.

If we want the world to believe that we have a better way of doing things, we must prove it with positive actions and not hateful platitudes. Unreasoning anger and knee-jerk vengefulness are not the hallmarks of a superior culture.

right-wing unmasked

"We will forcefully resist people imposing their will on us through the strength of the majority with a vote."

I have always suspected that the whole "democracy" thing is just a sham to these people. Thanks for the confirmation.

burn in hell, evil bastard

Robert Novak has died, killed by a malignant tumor.

I'm pretty sure that means it was a suicide.

Because there's nothing that gets the ladies to come a-runnin' like seeing a guy drinking one of these, right?

I'll never tell...

Happy birthday to the one true love of my life, wherever you are.
