all in the details

Amidst the reporting on the investigation into the shooting in the head by an American soldier of a severely wounded Iraqi at a mosque in Fallujah yesterday the information came out that the soldier who allegedly pulled the trigger was SHOT IN THE FACE in combat the day before but returned to duty that day. Obviously, he could not have had a major injury if the medical corps cleared him to return to active duty, but this just sounds like a bad idea. If a man has just been shot, it doesn't seem unlikely to assume that he might be a bit jumpy and not in the optimum state of mind to be able to think clearly while engaged in critical military activities.

This all gives me a feeling that can only be described as "shock and awe."
