RIP, Bea Arthur. Although over the last few decades she has been more often a punchline than an historic role model, her powerful effect on women in the United States continues to this day. You helped us all come a long way, baby.

She did a one-woman show sometime within the first two years of this century, and Jim and I took Addy to see her. She was a brilliant storyteller and singer, on top of her acting.
