a little more promising

Statement from the White House:

"Senator Gregg reached out to the President and offered his name for Secretary of Commerce. He was very clear throughout the interviewing process that despite past disagreements about policies, he would support, embrace, and move forward with the President's agenda. Once it became clear after his nomination that Senator Gregg was not going to be supporting some of President Obama's key economic priorities, it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways. We regret that he has had a change of heart."

That's more like it. If you are not willing to adhere to the policies that the administration sets, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Or in this case, please do, you hypocritical piece of crap. Gregg couldn't figure out before the last couple of weeks that this was not going to be a republican administration? This was a calculated stab in the back, and the authoritarian sewage that is holding the republican party hostage deserves absolutely no compromise at this point. There are enough republican governors leaning on their congressmen to back efforts to stanch the hemorrhaging economy that the Democrats can get whatever they want. And fuck this implied filibuster bullshit. Make the traitors stand up on the floor and do it the old-fashioned way. Make them show their cards, it is time to put the rabid militant neo/theocon dog down once and for all, before it completely sinks this nation. Let's hope the Obama team finally learned the lesson that a lot of us have known for a long time.
